Supply chain is an essential part of any business. This aspect is mostly neglected in small firms and the people working for the organisation hardly get noticed. This blog is a tribute to them who made us built an organisation which is known for its turn around time!
In case of #HoReCa (Hotel/Restaurant/Café) sector, the customers were mostly organised while the suppliers were unorganised and the suppliers had an image of a vendor amongst their organised customers. And not of an organisation which is equal in professionalism and overall operations.
In early 2005, when we decided to enter the sector, our vision was to create a niche by way of supplying good quality products and ensuring timely delivery of goods to the hotels. As that is the biggest pain point of the hotel industry. When we entered the market we were pitted against well established #HoReCa suppliers, who were largely unorganised but had deep pockets, since they were in the market for more than 3 decades before we joined them. To fight with these giants and create our own niche was a daunting task!
We did manage to emerge as a dominant player, after struggles for few years initially. Our focus was mainly on timely turn around time and simultaneously we invested in creating our in-house brands, these two things took us few notches ahead of competition.
Our in-house private brands soon started to create buzz in the market and gained immense popularity amongst our customers. We could maintain taste and manage price as we were the producer of these brands. Other suppliers started approaching us for these products and wanted to have distribution rights.
With right product strategy in place, we gained respect from our customers as a professional set-up, committed to serve them well. Thus we erased the perception of a ‘vendor’ and created an image of a professional company in our customers’ mind-space. We created a brand #HeartyMart.
All this was possible as we gave due attention to our dispatch team, working for their incentives and making an environment conducive for them to operate. Any organisation that focuses on every department that is involved in business operations is destined to flourish!
