As I write this post, we complete 16 years of #HeartyMart in Juhapura. And it also marks 16 years of my foray into #entrepreneurship, since Juhapura store was my first real entrepreneurial venture. My performance as an advertising professional was not upto the mark – atleast that is what I felt, though my bosses and superiors can throw better light on this than me. And that made me restless and I started looking for new opportunities which would give me satisfaction and redefine my identity.
After spending 8 years in advertising and media industry , eventually on 11th February 2004 I turned entrepreneur by opening a retail store in Juhapura – the area shunned and ignored by well-organized bigger brands. Initial 5 years were challenging – which briefly made me look at academics as a career option, had I failed as an entrepreneur. But we stuck around and survived the storm. And it helped us turn around our sinking ship in the year #2009. Here, when I say ‘I’, I am including every member of my team and my vendors who stood by me. Even partners who understood my plight and didn’t create troubles for me with demands that couldn’t be met.
Today, we feel satisfied, as our journey has conquered many milestones, which we had aimed for. #HeartyMart in 16 years has scaled up to become a group of 9 companies, a chain of 14 stores, a group of 22 #entrepreneurs and employee base of more than 150+. All this wasn’t possible without the team, who trusted my instincts and followed my idea and came up with execution plans, which I wouldn’t have managed with out them. And thus created this miracle called – Hearty Mart.
