The best example of business integration is #Apple. It created one of the best supply chains to ensure that the product is delivered in a right form to its consumers. This integration of music, iPod, iOS, iPhone etc keeps it way ahead in innovation and product quality from its competitors.
In our small way we too worked on integration to ensure we provide the best product to our customers and have quality checks at every point in the #supplychain. #Farm2Market is our micro enterprise, which procures gehu (wheat) from the farmers directly. The gehu (wheat) thus procured goes to our another micro enterprise #HeartyMart Atta traders. This wheat becomes an input for the small set-up which manufactures Atta (flour) out of this. The Atta is marketed under the brand name #Khamir to our retail consumers via our stores.
This #Khamir Atta is used in making dough for our another micro enterprise unit – #HeartyMart BakersPoint. Breads, Buns, pizza base, cookies etc are then sold by #BakersPoint to our customers.
The #Pizzabase & Buns manufactured by #BakersPoint are then further used to make Pizzas & Burgers and are sold through #BakersCafe.
Unlike diversification strategy which takes you to a newer market, business integration strategy helps in exploring opportunities in the same market and hence it is easier to implement IMHO. Product quality is ensured and your confidence in marketing the same goes up.
